Hi

just about to start building new system, have a

with 3 fans. This isn’t the RGB version

My motherboard is

The fan controller has a sata power connector.

Do I connect the fans to the fan controller, then connect the fan controller to the MB, or should I bypass it all together and connect the fans directly to the MB?

MB has 4 x 4-pin Chassis Fan header(s)

Thanks

I haven't actually built a non-RGB P4xx series case but a quick look a the description describes a 3 pin fan hub with 3 speeds controlled by a case button (I/O panel). So that sounds like connecting to the hub provides those fixed speeds.

How many wires are on the header connector that goes from the hub to the motherboard, assuming there is one. Just wondering it provides an rpm out signal only or if the fan speeds can be more finely controlled when the hub is plugged in to a motherboard header.

On the RGB versions the ARGB is either controlled by the case button when not connected to the motherboard or software controlled when connected to a motherboard. Fan speed is purely by fan headers. There is no fan speed hub on the ones I've built.

So you plug the 3 fans into the hub via the daisy chain and have 3 fans speeds set via the front case button. No need for the RPM signal wires just 12V and GND it seems.

I just built the RGB version this afternoon and it comes with 3 x 3 pin front fans. I'll use a 3 into 1 cable and plug them in to a spare motherboard header. They can just turn at a constant speed somewhere around 900 RPM which would likely be a medium setting.
