Bit of a strange one. Basically my brothers X-GF has took all his photos of the kids off his user account and put them onto her own user account on the laptop, then shes deleted his user account.

Id like to know if there is anyway i can access the photos then put them on a usb pen drive. She has passworded her user account and im assuming he is only allowed on a guest account now.

Any help? Cheers.

Use ntpasswd if an admin account password is set, then log in as an admin and take ownership of her profile. Copy the files off.

Thanks mate.

I just tested something on my laptop. I made my own account and set it to admin, passworded it, then turned on the guest account. (This is what i think she has done)

I booted in safe mode and the "Administrator" acccount appeared, i could log into that and access all the files and change the passwords on the useraccount.

Would this be easier to do? Then if that hidden admin account is also passworded, i download ntpasswd?

Cheers.

Yeah you've pretty much understood what I was getting at and reworded it - you'll only need ntpasswd if the Administrator account has a password set / is locked out.
