No, you were saying that you wanted custom avatars, and that to "fight the system" you were not using a sig.

IIRC OcUK did briefly flirt with a different theme and custom avatars but so many people preferred the original look with the 'gangster' theme it was changed back.

It's a point of differentiation from all the other forums out there.

I don't think that excuse carries much weight here in 2010.

Of course it does! Quite a few people here browse on a phone which has a data allowance, slow connections (Certainly no-where near as fast as my 20Mb) and the low profile themes and sigs help all of this nerd-geekery.

If you want to customise, do the sig. No need for custom Avatars.

Can we get more avatars above the 10,000 post one?.. perhaps a 50,000 post one??

Adding more between 1,000 and 5,000 would only clutter it up

Perhaps you should read the FAQ? Might help you avoid some of these "random bans"...

I for one agree that that custom avatars look cheap and tacky. How annoying is it to view a forum with 30 animated avatar gifs - makes the page look cluttered and confusing. Leave it the way it is +1.

This forum is running vbulletin, so it's easy enough to create another style set? Then the people who want the traditional can keep it, and the others who wish for something more personalised could have it?

You always deserve your bans, It's probably your "Troll the power" attitude that does it.

On topic of the thread, I think the avatar system here is a good, And shouldnt be changed. It gives the site a different and more professional feel. I don't know why Godfather = Professional. But yeah it does

I disagree - we'd just end up with more spammers than we already have trying to reach the post count. It has to be linked to account age too in order to prevent it, making it a tad pointless.

This is a forum for a private company, we're allowed to post here as long as we abide by the rules. Personally I don't care about avatars or signatures - I just enjoy the banter and technical help when I need it.

Keep everything as it is, I like having a forum that keeps the focus on the posts and not the e-penis avatars and sigs.

Would you care for a small wager on your petition not getting you custom avatars?

There have been extra avatars added at 5,000 and 10,000 posts relatively recently, I wouldn't imagine we'll be seeing more any time soon and certainly not custom ones.

We really need a reputation system more than anything, people seem to spam a lot to get high post counts to increase their e-peens.

It only matters if you associate high post count with them having something worthwhile to say, it's not necessarily the case at all. Do you not think a reputation system is just going to turn into a popularity context as well (at least at first)?
