Mooching... in your house
hey guys,

i've just found my old xbox out of the loft, its one of the limited edition green halo ones and is still in mint condition so its a bit of a shame to sell it for like £20 or whatever they're going for... would it be easy to maybe stick a large hdd in it and install linux or something and use it as a server - i assume the hardware would hack it?

would just like to utilise it really save selling it on for pittance :) - would this be the best option for it?

Discussing the modification of the hardware even to run Linux would be against the rules of this board.

Just hang on to it.

i think a combination of this xbmc and a standard file server to store stuff would be an excellent use for the old girl :)

it says something about having a problem with hdd's over 137gb so i'll have to lok into a solution for that but i'll start my reading and start gathering the different things i need to do it...

thanks guys :) (still looking for somewhere to tell me exactly what i need to do to set this up... the main site isn't all that clear unless im not looking in the right place... can i run this xbmc as part of a linux distro maybe so i can have a regular file storage place too or is it a standalone use with its own (sort of) operating system?)

edit: actually screw it i think just the xbmc will be fine - having regular files stored separetely seems a bit of hassle, cheers :)

been scouring for the last 20 mins could anyone who's done this post a link to the guide they used to do all this?
