This isn't Kist a cost issue, you should not be using 1000kwh a month regardless of what you're paying.
Sounds like everything is on full power all night, and thus chewing through the electric.
It will still lose 2.3kw of heat when it is hot, it would lose less if left to cool down as the temperature difference will decrease.
SO does that mean my system is twice as effecient as the OP's as he is using 2x 3KWH and all things being equal I will only use 2.3
Dont worry. You will make so much money selling the end product you can ofset the costs and still be 90% profit.
It all depends on the level of insulation the tank/cylinder has and how much water it holds as they will all have different energy loss ratings, my 210l cylinder losses 1.89kw/24h.
When you say leave it on all the time do you mean powered on or the timer was set to permanently on?
If so surely the electric would be through the roof?
well last night i turned my storage heaters input to 6 (maximum) on both heaters, had them on 4 recently and had water set to 45mins.
used 25 kWh last night, so that means on take off the 6 kWh the water heater was taking to heat for 45mins, that means the 2 heaters take 19kWh surely that isnt right? or is it?
edit: just checked and the model number according to creda, uses 11.8kWh to charge up but have some energy saving mode built in but times that by 2 lol what a joke!
i wouldnt mind but come 8pm im froze in here, might turn them down a notch and get me a cheap 700w oil heater to take the chill off
