Using a 360 controller as a media remote!

Can anyone recommend some software which allows me to use my wireless 360 controller as a media remote?

I use xpadder free version. Bind keys to button presses.

Another one that can do it is Pinnacle Game Profiler. But that doesn't have a free version (it has a free trial). I haven't tried it for that but it has profiles for things like Windows Media Centre so should work.

You could just use XBMC, that supports the 360 controller out of the box.

This has been working great, but it doesnt seem to save the profile and I need to re-create it everytime. Is it supposed to be this crap?
