If you're looking for an LCD for TV functions I'm going to shamelessly plug the LG M208WA and M228WA range. Well if you can find anywhere stocking them!

Their only limitation is that they use TN, but I honestly haven't found that to be a problem with these monitors.

I use a Dell 2407 as a monitor, and as a TV when connected to a freeview box. I also use the component for XBox 360 gaming.

My mate used to use the Dell 2007 for freeview viewing and as a second monitor attached to his laptop until he upgraded to the 2407.

I also have a Samsung 15" LCD TV that is now 7-8 years old. Paid the equivalent of around £600 when I bought it I think. It was one of the first LCD monitors with a built in TV tuner. Still works great and the quality of that monitor has only just been surpassed by the entry level LCD monitors IMO.

But there are cheap LCD TVs available to buy now, so using a monitor is probably silly considering the situation, unless you already have one with the required inputs sitting around doing nothing.

If I post a link to someone who stocks are 7ft IDE cable... because OcUK don't stock 7ft ones... is it still the same?

ok then just to confirm a few things, my wife would love me to spend the money on an lcd tv but i could actually treat myself to a new monitor for my pc and we could try and use my old 19" widescreen as a tv.
you see its all about me, me, me, me!
do you think im being greedy? :D

Ebay is different... think about it before your shout cow man ;)

Plenty of them don't, just have a look through the monitors section. In fact from a quick look through the 20"+ section, I'd say most of them don't. Most people don't want speakers on a PC monitor since it often spoils the aesthetics of the screen, the speakers are usually poor, and many people have their own superior PC speakers. Of the 5 LCD monitors I've owned only 2 have had speakers, and more importantly the one which I would want to connect a DVB-T tuner box to doesn't have any.

Anyway, cheers for the info, looks like a nice bit of kit :) I was considering one of those 8" LCDTVs with IDTV for about £100 but this tuner box is much better value and I have a 17" LCD spare.
