Using a mouse and keyboard with a 360

I like the way you've emphasised everybody. I take it you know everybody personally then.

If EVERYBODY plays with a pad why are these adapters on sale? Perhaps the manufacturers have a cash surplus and like wasting money?

well if you buy a console it comes with a pad

99% of all owners will play with the supplied hardware as intended

my opinion is that kb/mouse is the best control scheme on the planet

but if you have a console you use a pad

whats the point in using a kb/mouse with an adapter if it only mimics the pads movements

you gain NO advantage

and yes i do know EVERYBODY personally:D

Um, no, its still limited to whatever you have set your sensitivity in the game to. All PC FPS have a mouse sensitivity option just like console games have a stick sensitivity option.

Also, the mouse emulates the stick movements through the adapter so I dont see any way that it could be faster than the maximum sensitivity setting in whatever game you are playing allows.

Edit: was replying to post #19

If you're trying to make a smart remark then it save it for another thread

this guy is obviously not someone to mess with
microsoft had better integrate kb/mouse input in the next firmware update or they might get severely put down with some dangerous 'internet words'

Because you have a bigger surface area with a mouse. I could have the sensitivity so high that from left to right on a mouse mat I do a 360 degree turn. I could do that turn in 0.7 seconds. Using the thumbstick it would take over 1 second.

I hate half term..

If you've got any rational points to make then go ahead. If you want to troll jog on..

It's my prerogative to use a controller or KB/M is it not? Am I "sooo important" if I find it so much more natural to use a KB/M than some grumpy teenager who has used a controller for the majority of his life?

The majority of console gamers are actually out of their teens.

Its easy to understand why people prefer KB/M to a pad for FPS as the the learning curve of a pad is much higher. If you spend some time playing with a pad youll get out of the **** stage and realise that its actually pretty sweet. Im at the point now where I think I actually prefer a pad lol. - on a console anyway.

That's exactly how I feel. I've stated why in here several times too.
The problem when users use a mouse and keyboard is that it's unfair on those gamers not using one. It's okay on the PS3 as I believe you can filter them out, the adapter for the Xbox360 is different because it mimmicks a control pad, and being that it's an unofficial product, isn't recognized and therefore cannot be filtered out.

Moving a mouse in one direction constantly is no different to holding a stick down in one direction. Start up a FPS on a pc and set mouse sensitivity to the lowest you can and turn around. Then use a controller and do the same and you will see its no different.

Its quarter to 5 and I'm about to go home so I probably wont reply again till monday :)

If I'm wrong or right can someone else please tell me. Because science is telling me I'm right and you don't argue with science lol.

half term?
well i know my daughter is off today but what has that got to do with it?

i made a point about something you asked about
so did Nokkon

we gave our views on a subject YOU inquired about

and you gave us both angry face
so that means you are trolling

dont ask a question if you are going to have a mist when people tell you their opinion

Opinions are fine.. Answers people may not want to hear are fine.. Jumping on some bandwagon and making criticisms aren't..

I bet your daughter can't wait to get back to school...

my daughter found this for you

and it says:
before you go plunking down your paycheck, we'd be wary that Microsoft will try to detect -- and disable -- devices like the XFPS in an effort to maintain a balanced playing field
so there is your criticism

not mine
as i said before
i use a keyboard and mouse and prefer it

That's fine.. I've no issue with that at all.

I "could" be pedantic and argue people playing COD4 at 720P on a 37" display might have an advantage over someone playing on an old 14" CRT so Microsoft had better "try and detect" what displays people are using but that's getting a bit far fetched and I think all this negativity in here is getting to me..

To those that read my original question and promptly gave a corresponding reply I'm appreciative. To all those that passed judgement I couldn't really care at all.

Cya..

I've been using a mouse and keyboard all my life (I'm 30 now) and never really owned consoles in the past.

I've briefly tried playing one of the older COD games on my cousins 360 using the controller and it felt like trying to write with my wrong hand. It just felt sooooooooo strange and unnatural.

If these adapters work then I'll get a 360 and join in with some of my mates online but there's no way I'm going to buy one just to get owned each night trying to use a controller.

Used a mouse/keyboard for 5 years when used to game on the PC. After the initial getting used to the controller, I couldn't imagine going back. I also means i don't have to sit as close to the screen too.

When i played my first game on the 360 (King Kong) i nearly gave up as couldn't hit anything at all! I played racing games for a while to get a bit more adjusted to the controller and had another go at king kong. Its simply a case of getting used to layout.
