We are having problems with our proxy server at the moment. Is it the norm for companies to use proxy servers?

I think where i worked before we didnt use a proxy server, there was just a set list of blocked websites but i can never rememeber a proxy running in LAN settings.

it's very common for businesses to use a proxy. It stops all the computers you have from touching the outside world directly, meaning only the proxy will access, allows logging/monitoring and a centralized way of blacklisting/permission settings.

What sort of problem are you having?

Our domain controllers are 192.168.10.100 and 10.101, we use proxy 10.100 at the moment and citrix users use 10.101. 101 deals with all the other requests so at the moment we cant chance putting everyone else (around 30 users) on 10.101 as we dont want our DC to die. A new DC is coming being installed next week

10.101 in works fine but using 10.100 its slow for some reason

We can use proxy54.scanssafe.net, this also works fine but then the Scan safe exceptions do not work for management users with SSexceptions group.

Sorry for my lack of networking knowledge. Ive only started learnign about proxies, domain controllers etc over the past few weeks
