As above really.

I want to add another HDD to my system. My mobo (see sig) has 2 normal SATA connections (both in use already) and 2 RAID connections. If I plug the new HDD into the RAID it does not appear in windows (NB - RAID drivers are installed).

Also when I boot the PC I get an option to create an Array each time. Since I don't want to create an Array (just add a new HDD) I have ignored this (If I do clik yes I get the option to create a Stripe or Mirror RAID)

Am I missing something obvious? Or is it not possible?

Your new HD isn't formatted so Windows won't pick it up in Explorer.
Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management. You should see the unformatted drive there. Format it and it should appear in Explorer.

Nah - it was formatted that wasn't this issue.

Turns out the BIOS had 2 settings for the RAID Controller (after the setting to turn the controller on). One for it to act as RAID, the other for standalone IDE. I'd missed this option first time round - now it works fine :D

Cheers anyway.

I'm confused. Hows does your bios allow you to use your 3rd 4th SATA ports as IDE??
Both PATA and SATA drives are IDE - Integrated Drive Electronics - devices, the BIOS setting allows SATA devices to be run as single drives using generic drivers.
