Hi,

I'm a bit of a networking noob so thought I'd ask the experts this quick question...

I'm having BTInifinity installed next week and what I'd like to do is incorporate my current router (a Netgear DG834G v4) as some kind of wireless bridge so that I can hook up my Freesat box to it, and be able to use BBC Iplayer without having to attach a cable every time.

The router and freesat box are in opposite corners of the room and it's not really feasable to have a cable installed permantently but I wondered if it was possible to have my old router sitting behind my Freesat box and have it talk to the Homehub 3.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Thanks

I use a 2nd router for bridging upstairs to downstairs at the GFs house. Although to do that I needed a router that supported bridging on the WLAN interface, which led me to getting one that supported DD-WRT firmware.

You might get lucky if you can bridge using DGTeam firmware which seems to support your old router.

Otherwise you might as well just get a cheap pack of homeplugs.
