I own a Corsair RM650x PSU and am upgrading my old 1070TI for an 6700XT.

The new GPU requires two 8-pin PCI Express Power connectors

The Corsair RM650x includes a PCI Express Power cable with two 8-pins on it (6+2 and 6+2).

Is it OK to use this or should I really be using a 2nd completely separate cable?

It’s generally recommended to use two cables, but I’ve used plenty of cards in the past with a single cable with 2x 8 pin connectors including a RX 6800.

For a 6700XT I really don’t think you will have anything to worry about, especially given the 650x is a solid PSU.

Using two cables is one of those Urban legends I think.

It's obvious why it might be better, but I've never actually heard of it ever being a problem in anyone's build.

Vega 64 and some 5700XT builds were plagued with issues because of using a single cable. Quite a few threads on these very forums too.
