Using a TV as a Monitor

Hi everyone.

I'm looking at getting a new monitor and have started to consider a TV instead mainly as I watch a lot of BLU-Rays, Box sets and Netflix and game a lot less than I use too.

The PC it will be used for is not used for any work but will be used for web browsing and some gaming and if a TV is bought some console gaming too.

I have been looking at this TV:

I know TV's suffer from input lag but this one seems to have a PC/Gaming mode built in, at about 3:35 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN9iMitxZBQ

Basically will this TV work as a monitor and allow me to play PC games like World of Warcraft and be able to view web pages clearly?

Thank you.

I see no reason why not.
A lot of people use TVs instead of monitors my partner included (no idea how she does it, looks far too big to me)

in some tv's there is an option to name inputs. if you set the pc to pc(lol) it tell the TV not to re-processes the image and then the image will look at good as it dose on a monitor with no lag.

i use a 27" monitor but also have a 40" tv on the wall for playing games.

Thanks.

The room I will use it in isn't huge so 32" is the perfect size and it will also go on the wall.

I assumed looking at that video I posted above the PC/Gaming mode was built in but it may be a users unique named input but it does appear that either way this is an option.

This does look like the one I'm going to get, great reviews at a great price.

Thanks again

I have a much older 37" LCD LG and that supports gaming mode on HDMI1 I haven't had any problems with it.. the colours are no where as vivid as a nice new LED and I'm sure the refresh sucks. but I already had it , and I think its fine... a new TV will be much better

I game on a 32" Samsung TV and love it. Certainly couldn't go back to a smaller screen now.

Ive tried it with a few racing games and a controller. Was pretty ok tbh. But for fps games i couldnt get used to it, and definitely not for desktop usage. Text looks horrible on it.

I've only ever had problems, it just looks... weird. I don't know how to describe it but on both TV's i have used as monitors in the past I have spent hours trying to reconfigure them and it just won't work. I still have one of them linked up for films as they arent so bad.

Thanks.

I think I will get the LG 32LF650V and use it for movies and gaming and anything that doesn't look good I can always keep my current 24" monitor connected and use that.

Thanks everyone.
