Using a wireless battery powered door bell? Any good?

I hate that one too but each to their own :p I wonder if you could just open the little case up and link the switch mech, i bet that would be quite easy to do and would give a recessed look.

Perhaps i obsess too much over detail like this, but i spent ages and a fortune getting our main door and hardware including bell push just right. I think a good front door and high end hardware really makes a big difference to a house.

Fair enough, but I'm not overly fussed by a white 8x2cm box stuck on white door frame :) It looks modern and I believe is well made.

I've learned it's all too easy to get worried about things, that 2 weeks later you don't even give a second thought/look at!

The alternative is to have a tradition push with a wire, but then that needs to be run to the box inside, so you have a wire showing!

OK, given the number of people and reports I've seen of people having problems I'll probably get a Friedland D914 for about £37 to guarantee reliability!

Shame the interior bell box isn't just plain white, rather than metal/black!

I've had several makes of wireless doorbell in my last house and this one - they've all suffered problems of some sort.

I have been using that one for several months now, without issue. I have a wireless one near my front door (it can, but doesn't get moved) and a plug-in one in the kitchen, at the back of the house.

We have a battery powered wireless "button" but the receiver plugs into the mains. We haven't had to change the battery in the button since we moved in over two years ago.

Just got one of these. Quite handy you can move it to other parts of the house if needed easily (i.e. near loft if up there or near back door if outside).

Not changed the battery in ours yet and we've had it 6 years so far. The indoor part is mains powered.

Never changed the batteries in mine in about 4 years since I fitted it. Gets used a few times a week with all the stuff I buy online too :p

Some friends have a wireless doorbell which goes off when I use my car's remote central locking. Also found a bell in my local Screwfix (staff use for calling additional staff to the tills) that does the same thing.

No idea if there is simply one cheap brand that does this or whether I am ringing peoples' doorbells wherever I go! It has kinda put me off wireless doorbells.

Jez, it's not to hard to wire a nice bell push like those you linked to up to a new wireless doorbell. You still have to put the wireless bell push somewhere accessible to change the battery and have some bell wire between the two though.
