GOt an old shuttle sg83g5m, the one with the vfd in the front of it - motherboard appears to be knackered so thought I'd use the psu and vfd to build a sff media center.

Anyone know how to wire one of these screens to work on another machine - the cable appears to have a Red, white, green, black and black (thick) wires and connected to a special connector on the shuttle mobo.

sorted it out, its a usb - all connected now need some software to get it to work - any ideas, XPC tools doesnt work on Vista 64!

There's a vista driver zip file on the shuttle webpage, have you tried downloading that and seeing if there's anything in there that will work?

Ages ago I remember seeing some universal display panel software being discussed, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, sorry!

I'd be interested in hearing about how the rest of your build is going, I've got an old G5 case sitting around that I'm thinking of doing the same thing with.

PK!

got the vfd recognised in vista but cant get xpc tools to work, any of them - any ideas as it keeps coming up "has stopped working" on either vista 32 or 64, even if I run as administrator.

As it stands the vfd displays time and date ok, but no other funstions - help!
