All,

I've had a bit of a idea for cooling my PC which may be a genius plan or alternatively as I have the flu, it may be completely nuts.

I recently fitted a new bathroom extractor fan using a mixed flow fan which lives in the attic. It's very quiet, especially since it is located outside the bathroom.

My mad plan is to use one of these fans to cool my PC.

The specs:
MF100T mixed flow fan: http://www.manrose.co.uk/specifications/mixflorange.pdf
245 m3/h
200 PA pressure
24 db (plus it's remote)

Current setup,:
Multiple case/cpu fans, e.g: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-020-AN&groupid=701&catid=2331&subcat=4
60 m3/h (say 120m3/h total amount of air moved through the case)
3-4 PA pressure
9-20 db x 5 fans (in the same room)

Obviously you'd need to sort out some kind of trunking.

Advantages:
V. Quiet
V. Powerful
Heat is removed from the room (my current room turns into a sauna after an hour of gaming)
Has a run-on-timer to remove residual heat

Disadvantages:
Not the easiest thing to install
Possibly unsuitable for Lan Parties

Any thoughts, anyone done this already? Is this worth a go or should I up the dosage of Night Nurse?

Fair enough. I do think it would be quieter and more effective than the 120mm fans - compare the specs. However one problem I did think of (other than the many obvious ones) is that it would just be an exhaust fan, therefore creating negative pressure in the PC which I believe is bad (dust?).
