Using Car For Work

35p a mile is bare minimum I think - cheap really.

22p a mile for petrol and the rest goes on wear and tear and depreciation.

I guess it depends on how many miles you do. If it's only a few (1000 a year) the 20p isn't bad.

Normally I'd say 40p minimum. 20p a mile doesn't even cover the cost of fuel. But if you're only doing a few miles then the insurance more than makes up for it.

I get 45p per mile, racked up about 400 miles this month from my golf diesel, need to go to melksham and brizzol on Thursday :)

Trick is to leave early, economy drive and you will be fine

thanks guys....

Can any off you clever lot kindly advise me on average how much it cost me per mile? using the miles per gallon ratio against the cost of petrol?

My car is a Honda Accord 2.0i SE yr2000

thank you for all your help and clarity on this matter

Its best to advise them straight off rather then have to fund journies from my own pocket.

Most places won't give you a direct sum, they just give a figure per mile.

Its up to you to make sure you have the right level of Business cover, so make sure you get that added onto your policy.

Size of car / efficiency has nothing to do with what your company pays you.

Yeah was gonna say that also, make sure your insurance knows your using it for business, if you don't you could come a cropper

If you have an accidnet and you havent informed them then they won't pay out

45p per mile first 10,000 miles
25p thereafter

Company discretion as to what they pay after first 10k but anything over 25p is taxable

I get 45p per mile

(EDIT: Just seen I have already posted in this thread above ^^ thought it was a new thread :) )
