I'm looking into Creatine, i'm gonna read up on it and stuff as i have little knowledge just now. But i'm just curious if people would advise using it? One thing that's put me off that someone said to me was, when you use it you're body doesn't produce it anymore itself, is this true?

Is it totally safe using it, and is the benefit good enough? If so, which brand do you reccomend buying, as i know it's best to get a good company who makes good quality stuff.

a lot of these questions will get answered when i read up on it more, but any info and expierence people have with it, let me know would be appreciated :)

With regards to your body not producing Creatine after supplementing it, I personally think it is incorrect although I have no hard evidence for it being true or false.

Creatine is Creatine, please do no waste your money on the most expensive brand. All you need is pure Creatine Monohydrate.

I recently bought 5Kg of Protein from this company, although I only ordered 2 days ago and it hasn't turned up so fingers crossed :p
They also sell Creatine very cheaply, it has no added flavours, preservatives, crap or more crap, it also doesn't have fancy labels. Keeps the price down. :)

I used Creatine for a while, and I'm not taking it at the moment until I buy the powedered stuff from the link I posted. I have capsule form creatine but capsules make me fart and feel uncomfortable. I have taken powdered creatine before, it was called Reflex and tasted yummy but mixed terribly and it felt like sand when drinking

Have a nose around here

Hope that help

Thanks, i didn't mean the dearest and best stuff, i just read somewhere it's good to make sure you find someone who produces good quality stuff, something to do with the iron in it :)

Thanks for the links, i'll take a look. When you used creatine before, was it worth doing it?

It has been a while since I was using it, so I'm a bit vague and can't promise if what I remeber is just me hyping up the pacembo effect.

Personally I felt it worked great, I seemed to recover quickly from muscle soreness and if I ever pulled a muscle (which happened in my back) I seemed to recover from that very quickly too, noticeablly more quickly then before I was supplementing.
I also seemed to have more energy when working out, it was quite a strange feeling but I don't get it with this capsule form stuff from Holland & Barrett. When taking the capsules, I take a smaller dose than when I used the powder from Reflex.

Many people will tell you to supplement as follows

Loading Phase -> Normal Supplementation -> Break -> Continue

From my own exerience and from articles I have read online, the loading phase is unecessary. There are calculators available online to tell you the amount of creatine you should supplement with. I did one a while back and will try to find a link.

creatine mono is not the only thing on the market worth looking at, there is also the EEC stuff which has much better absorbtion thus needing to take in less per dose than mono.

the better the mono the better it will mix (with water or the prefered juice)

macca, can you do me a favour and post your current routine and diet?
if your not using protein already then its likely you dont need to be taking creatine at this time.

What are your goals, do you wish to get bigger, stronger?

My personal goal is to gain Muscle so my diet reflects that

I can do when i sort it out, you are right i don't need to be taking at this time and i won't be. As i'm just starting off with things, i'm still adapting my diet aswell.

At the moment i'm just gathering some info as i plan to move onto using it later on. I'm sorting out a routine as i said above, i was going to start off with using protein and get used to my routine and my diet before ever thinking off using creatine. I just want to find out about it and get peoples opinions.

My goals are to gain muscle and strength.

Macca as you are still establishing a routine you could take a look at the featured routines on the site I posted.

The Baby Got Back routine is fantastic and in only 3 weeks of starting it I have made a vast improvement. If you are new to lifting weights you will make impressive gains initially as your body adjusts to the stresses you place upon it.

There are a few others, other favorites being WBB 1, 2 and 3, but for no reasonable explanation I found them boring.

The Baby Got Back routine though is very intersting and I'm excited to complete each workout.

Thanks for all the info.

I have been doing stuff already at the gym, and will be starting a proper routine i'll be sticking to within the next week. I've been going for the past month or so with a friend learning and using the weights and my body has started adjusting to the stress. Now i'm gonna set out a routine for myself. I decided i was going to start using protein then eventually i might use creatine.

Thanks to everyone else for the info to, i might never even go onto it but i am interested in finding out about it, as i thought about moving onto it at some point.

Use protien shakes if your just gonna use one

bit pointless if your just gonna use creatine on its own, bit like skipping a step

Protien shakes are the first step of supplements, and creatine is the 2nd

Actually if its Mono Hydrate. it ALL comes from the same German Laboratory. The EEC stuff is pretty toxic :(.

Yes, if you use creatine your body does stop producing it naturally, but when you come off creatine your body starts to produce it again, so its not a major issue..

Read up about it, but one major thing is to make sure you drink lots of water when your on creatine, as otherwise it can be very bad for your liver (and joints).

are you sure?
ive been told of many people having stuff that just doesnt mix with water, staying very gritty, where as others disolve easly and well.

Mono doesnt mix well. I normally just put the scoop full in my mouth and then down a glass of water straight after, its my preferred way of taking it anyway.

I think you're talking about the Degussa Creatine (also known as Creapure) this is world reknowned as the purest and best Creatine available as it's 99.99% pure Creatine.

You're mistaken saying it's the only Creatine though. There are quite a few others, though they were so far behind the Germans they weren't worth considering. They've caught up now though, especially the Chinese as their Creatine is minimum 99.9% pure pharmaceutical grade.

What do you mean EEC stuff? or do you mean CEE?

I've been taking Creatine for years and I've yet to try ANY creatine that dissolves in water. You can get it to float around by stirring it, then neck it but never dissolve. Stir it and leave it for a minute, the creatine will just sink to the bottom...
Though try not to do that too often as creatine degrades in liquid pretty quickly.
