Using DDR3 instead of DDR3L memory in lenovo y50-70 laptop

I recently purchased a used lenovo y50-70 laptop which came preinstalled with 16GB DDR3L ram [2 x 8GB 2Rx8 12800s PC3L 1.35v]

I have opened the laptop bottom cover and removed the 16GB RAM and replaced it with 2 x 4GB DDR3 ram. The ram is 1.5v pc 10800s. The memory slot on the motherboard of this laptop mentions 1.5v as the voltage of the ram. I booted the laptop and it worked fine, No warning message at boot time. I ran cpu-z and it said the ram was running at 1.5v. I have ran the laptop for over 4 hours continously but no problems so far. No freeze or hanging. No burning smell either

Now my query is whether it is okay to install ddr3 ram on a system which recommends ddr3l ram. I am aware the performance will go down if install 8GB ddr3 1.5v 10800s ram but what I am really concerned is whether such a setup will do any long term damage to the laptops motherboard or the processor [intel i7]

Shouldn't make any difference.
DDR3L is just a more power efficient version. (slightly lower voltage 1.35v or something).

Some laptop bios may be locked to ddr3L only but it seems yours isn't.
