Is it possible to use different drives in RAID? I currently have

C: primary 500gb
D: 120gb
G: 500gb Media
H: 250gb system backup
I: 1tb external, media backup

I run acronis to clone my c: onto h: as my os isnt that big. Im getting a velociraptor soon, is it possible to use one of my other drives, say the 250gb with the velociraptor as primary?

I need to clear stuff up as there's copies of stuff everywhere its getting a bit messy

It's possible, but it makes no sense. I'd leave Velociraptor alone, or make RAID with second Velociraptor only as they are really quick drives and joining them with slow ones would make Velociraptors slower, not faster.
One more question: those drives you listed here - are they logical (partitions), or physical (different hard drives) ? If you've got so many hard drives - just turn off H and I drives as you don't need them to usual work, buy some big hard drive (1TB ?), partition it and get rid of actual C, D and G (or swap G with H as you'd need more space for backup) as hard drives -> partitions.

They are all logical drives, no partitions.

C: primary 500gb (around 100gb, windows, camera pictures and programs)
D: 120gb (games)
G: 500gb Media (media, now full as I: has loads more stuff on it)
H: 250gb system backup (just a clone of C:)
I: 1tb external, media backup (camera pics, music, video, cd/dvd images as they are all at home)

Will probably do something like this - I should really reinstall games and format machine but theres that many programs installed and its running good with around 35 processes

C velociraptor - cloned from old drive
D games (so i dont have to reinstall)
G 500gb media
H 500gb media 2 old C
I 250gb system backup
J 1Tb external

How much could i get for the 2 500gb drives, then buy a 1tb one, would be easier
