Evening,

My car is due an oil change. My old man has 2 x 4 litres of unopened oil he purchased a year back in the garage.

toyota service book recommends 5w-30 oil, this stuff is for his audi a6, seems high grade synthetic oil

one bottle is 15w-30 and one is 10-40 (no idea why he bought different) is it okay to use this grade oil for my oil change?

cheers

Check the manual.

Most engines will take 10w-40, 5w-30 is an economy grade.

The 15w30 is the worst of both worlds, poor cold start and top end protection.

Considering you can buy 5w-30 anywhere for £20, i would just use what the handbook says.

I do like a good 10w-40 though.
