I have a gigabyte x58 mobo with an r9 270x , thinking about buying another for crossfire , if I do will it effect performance as to which PCIe slot I plug it into ? The mobo is set up for 3 way sli , if I put it at the bottom it will be further away from the 1st card but will be sat right on top of the corsair 750 psu which has a fan in the top of it ? My case is the antec 902

What is the exact motherboard you have? Check you manual as it will detail the crossfire support. Normally you'd get something like:

- x16/x16
- x16/x8
- x8/x8

My mobo model no is X58A-UD3R .. I think it's 2 x 16 then the 3rd is x 8 does that sound right ? Does that mean I'll need to put it into 2nd slot for best performance ??

Bit of a noob when it comes to crossfire lol ... Will 2 of these last me a good couple of years gaming at high settings at 1080p ?

Yes that does sound right. I think slots 3-5 are PCIE 2.0, but the difference between then is negligible.

Edit - You'll honestly be fine with just the one card, but if you wanted to run 2, you'll be fine at 1080p.

I thought I'd be fine with one but I'm an sucker for wanting more fps and being able to run games maxed out lol .. It's the 4gb version too which I got at the same price , and with the intention of running 2 .. I don't know what to do now haha !

I thought about that too , I might just go with that option ... Dunno how much I'll fetch for my card though only had it since feb ? and I'd have to ebay it as I'm not eligible for that mm yet ? :( ..

Do you know anyone who does have MM access? Maybe they could help! Some wicked deals on some 290's.

Popular auction site maybe your best bet though.

No unfortunately not ... I would probably prefer buying a new 290 anyway the msi seems cheap at 320 ? You think I would get 140/50 for current card on an auction site or am I not suppose to ask that outside mm ?
