1. What file type should I save the screenshots as? BMP/JPG/PNG/TGA? for the best quality, don't care about the size/weight of the file.

2. Always when I try to record myself playing games (wow, age of conan and so on), I find myself getting a very low frame rate, till the point where the game becomes unplay-able:

Here's a screenshot from the "movie" tab in fraps, please go 1 by 1 and tell me how to adjust the settings for a decent performance / quality.

Please note that I play on 1680*1050 resolution with my 22" screen.

I don't know about WoW/AoC but in COD4 I use the in-game recording feature to record the gameplay. Then I play back the gameplay and record it with fraps.

If WoW/AoC doesn't have that feature, you could try selecting 60fps but the video file will be huge, especially if you're recording full-size.
