hi, want to ask something, im a tight (back side) at times and always go to the hairdressers at get either number 3 or 4 top and sides (on my head :)) cut.

I have some clippers myself, if i was to do it myself is it easy to do and straight forward ? There good clippers just never done it before.

I dont want to butcher myself up nor cut my head off so is it a case of set to number 4 and shave your head boy!, then take guard off and tidy and square up ?

Only if you're a homosexual sailor cowboy.

If you're a heterosexual man, you take the guard off, shave your head and be done with it.

only thing you wont be able to do (unless your a jedi) is tidy up the bottom line at the back, you'll need someone to do that for you.

also, it'd be easier for someone else shaving your head to see which bits aren't quite right and need a bit more going over. it's very easy to miss bits. but if you do the shave and then rub through your hair with your hands, you should be able to feel any areas that are longer.

though if you take penskis advice and leave the guard off, it's pretty obvious when you've got it all the same length :)

not going blad nor No1, my gonards are not big enough for that! Not sure if it would suit me being bald lol

I shall do it tomorrow morning then....newspaper on the floor in the bathroom and next to the mirror, jobs a good un then hopefully!!

and im not shaving no where else ever again, all it brings is itch itch itch! :):(

The first few times you'll look in the bathroom mirror with a shaving mirror to see the back of your dome, it'll take about 30 minutes. Eventually you get the feel for it and can buzz it off in 10.

I think that a number 4 is too long, #3 max, 2 or 1 is fine, no guard is too short.

edit: also, it's impossible to cut yourself with clippers.

Thanks Tru and for the record, it IS possible to cut certain 'free hanging areas' without the guard on trust me, been there done that "martini" etc!

LOL. I might have a go at this myself, would be a lot cheaper. I usually get short back and sides and she cuts the top with scissors, im not sure id suit it all the same length.

The difference between #1 and #2 may not be much in measurement terms, but it gives a very different look - I did my beard #2 the other week and tonight tried #1 and it's almost taken me to the bone.

I do myself as well normally no3 but as I have a weird hairline at the back of my neck I need someone to straighten it up

my mate bought some cheap rechargable/cordless clippers and when i turned em over to do the top of the neck, they literally acted like a saw hehe :D  so they dont get used any more ;)
