Using iOS when driving (Siri)

Hello,

When I am driving I usually keep my Airpods in and have my phone in my pocket so I have hands-free.

When I say "Hey Siri" and ask to read out a message or give directions it always asks me to unlock first. Making calls is fine which is why I use this the most.

This is pretty inconvenient and I guess it's to do with security.

Is there any way I can switch this off please?

Thank you for your post. Unfortunately this reply isn’t very useful for me.
It is useful for you chief, first of all it’s distracting you from concentrating on driving and secondly who in their right mind drives with headphones in??
Why not just use hands free if your car has it??

You know you can have 1 wireless Airpod in at a time right? This makes it no different to a bluetooth headset.

This allows one ear open and one to listen to calls.

Having a bluetooth headset is completely legal whilst driving and I do not intend nor have I ever listened to music with them whilst driving.

It's a shame to have to explain every detail to get an answer to a problem.

For anybody that is interested, a simple google returned the result anyway:
