Nice, I'd like to hear your impressions.

To the OP I like to play with the PC hooked up to my HDTV and sit on the bed/chair with a pad. Not really practical to sit on a chair with a mouse and keyboard.

Move your desk in front of your sofa :D or get some of those tables they use in hospitals and put your keyboard and mouse on that, sorted :D

Well, I tried it - it's actually not as playable as I anticipated. It feels very sensitive - even if you aim the joypad slightly, you will turn very quickly regardless. So aiming is very difficult, especially without the auto-aim that is usually associated with joypads. I could not find a way to adjust the sensitivity from the game menus. Another small gripe is that with the 360 controller and the .config that Valve provides, there are no support for the triggers, so you have to use the bumpers. This can give hand cramps after some time.

It was worth trying out, and hopefully when the 360 version of the Black Box comes out, Valve may implement fully supported controls for those who like to play with controllers.

I do normally play my PC games with mouse/keyboard, I just felt like a change :)

Been doing this for months on my HDTV. Very easy to setup.

I use a wireless X360 controller + MS crossfire wireless gaming receiver.

Just download this free app then you can configure keypresses to match the gamepad (works with any wired or wireless PC gamepad).

Played Prey, HL2, Doom3, Quake4, Farcry and many others which lacked native gamepad support is a joy on such a large screen. You can easily adjust how sensitive the gamepad is and even emulate a mouse with it and still configure the other gamepad buttons to emulate keypresses.

Nice, thanks for the link! I'll give it a shot. It seems very in-depth. Slightly off-topic question, may I ask how you connect your HDTV to your PC? Mine only has HDMI and component, no VGA :( is it possible to do anything with the HDMI aspect, such as a convertor?

edit: it won't detect my wired 360 controller at all, only the keyboard. :/

VGA but you can buy a DVI to HDMI cable. Some HDTVs HDMI inputs have overscan which means the image does not fill the screen as you cannot get 1:1 pixel mapping. Mine allows you to set an option called justscan which means you get 1:1 pixel mapping. Your wired controller should work as long as windows detects it as I can use a USB wired logic3 gamepad and that works fine.
