My windows has only ever crashed because of my graphics drivers as i installed the wrong ones. The mac I had to use for a while crashed an awful lot, not because of the OS but the applications I ran on it.
I find the Mac OS horrible. I much prefer linux and in a lot of ways windows for usability.
I would get the PC because of greater reliability and compatibility.
Lots of print and design places did switch to InDesign, but a fair amount stayed with Quark, and Quark are making a big effort to claw them back, in my experience it's 50/50ish with the more 'modern' places having switched, but a lot having stayed with Quark.
I didn't say anything about crashing I said faffing.
Windows seems to need a fair bit more maintenance to keep it running smoothly (in my experience) which is time I'd rather spend doing something more productive, like cruising YouTube.
I know what you wrote, I wasn't replying to that post specifically.
I'd agree with you regarding XP, but in Vista I pretty much just use it and everything else takes care of itself. The most annoying thing I have to deal with is the Adobe Updater.
Agreed...I think it's swings and roundabouts when it comes to which os crashes more than the other.
they both crash as much as each other. the habit of 'saving work a lot and often' seems to apply in either case and even more so when you start building big graphics files in Indesign, etc.
end of the day when I go and freelance in many differet places 90% of the time they going to to be using a mac, better or not, it's just been a industry standard for a long time.
All the best agencies use them and I can't see them changing.
I can equally use a windows based machine, but that's usually when im testing web related stuff, mainly flash.
That said, for the average user it's not really going to make a difference.
