Using Old Cement?

Google seems to provide more contradictory answers and opinion than I can take in. I have a damaged air brick to replace and had half a bag of old (a year or so) cement in the garage along with some sand that is more recent. As the cement has been kept off the ground and in a bin bag it hasn't gone hard. Does it matter that the cement is old for such a small job? Seems wasteful to buy a new bag for one air brick.

Cheers

Thanks, it's not the cost. More the fact that buying another bag for such a small job will see me wasting most of the bag again.

It'll be fine although technically out of date. It'll still be stronger than the mortar I'm my house. It's like compressed sand.

Use it and don't worry! as others have said its going to reduce the working time but as long as its been kept dry and hasn't gone off in a hard lump it will do the job you require.
