Hi,

I want to use my Mac on my main monitor that is plugged into my Windows Desktop. Except, it takes ages for me to replug my Mouse/KB from the Windows into the Mac.

Is there any way I can use one monitor on 2 devices and still be able to switch seamlessly and use the 1 keyboard/mouse?

Can I just also please hijack this thread a little.

I am also using a Windows PC and a Linux PC

Yes, absolutely, all you need is a KVM.

I have two of them, and they both have small issues that may, or may not be important to you.

Firstly, one of them , is a DVI one, and the other is VGA and they are both USB ones.

The DVI one selects its base unit via a remote button ( VERY HANDY ) but the VGA one has 2 buttons on the unit itself ( VERY NOT HANDY )

Anyway, I have found that the DVI one, does NOT like my keyboard at all.
The Keyboard is a Logitech G510s

All the normal keys work, but the multimedia keys and the volume scroller do NOT work.
I dont mind about the Macros... I have never managed to get them to work even in Windows, even though I have tried and tried to assign them for some of my games etc, I cannot even get them do do the default macros? but anyway, no one of the edtra keys work.

So, I have resoted to the VGA one. This also has its own issues too, the Screen Resolution is too high for the VGA as standard and so, I often find the screen resolrting to a lower rez, or sometimes the icons get dumped back in the l;eft sideof the screen, meaning that I have to move them again, however, the keyboard itself is ok.

When it swaps over to Linux, it keeps resorting to default profile and when it goes back to Windows, it goes to whatever it was on, andthats absolutely fine for me, because at least the multimedia keys all work fine.

Now, another big issue is my mouse.

I currently use a Logitech G5 and this is fine, however my main G5 broke, and I do have another old spare one and I ahve had to dig that out, but what I decided to do, was to splash out on a new Mouse and I have bought a nice Corsair thats all singing and all dancing etc, but that does not work with the KVM? I really dont know why? Not even in dummy mode... It really needs to be a basic mouse that I need to use and not an all singing all dancing one.

So, my basic mice, they seem to work, but my gaming mice dont. Jusy the G5

So, if you buy a KVM, I would stringly check out that they are compatible with your Keyboard and MOUSE, because I have had issues with both of mine.

Oh, and after a short while, it seems to forget that it has one, or both keyboard or mouse and they just will not work whatsoever, and the light onthe KVM just keeps flashing no matter whether on one or the other, and the ONLY way that I have found, that will fix this, is to not only power down BOTH computers, but also to switch the power off to the PC so that there is absolutey ZERO power going through it and it then resets itself.

This I find much more than just irritating because I am in a wheelchair and my Windows PC is a full heavy bugger that is hellishly heavy and I cannot easily get to the switch.

Anyway, sorry to hijack, but there is some food for thought to ruin your day.

I wish my VGA one only cost me a tenner!

It was £80.

It IS however, more compatible than my DVI one, with my keyboard & mouse.
