Hi all, i'm currently running a P4 640 3.2GHz CPU. I noticed my motherboard: Asus P5ND2-SLI-Deluxe with the latest current bios (which i have installed) supports upto a Pentium D 840 3.2GHz CPU.

I'm a gamer mainly, is it worth me upgrading to this CPU? does it work with full 6.4GHz or power all of the time in any game or is it only in games that take advantage of it? Also will it be a good clocker?

Asus P5ND2-SLI-Deluxe
3.2GHz Pentium 640 CPU @ 3.6GHz
Windows Vista 32
4GB pc6400 800Mhz DDR2
BFG 8800 GTS 320mb
Maxtor 250GB SATA

Any info/help would be great thanks :D

Upgraded from a p4 630 3.0 ghz @4.1 ghz to a pD 925 3.0 ghz @ 3.9 ghz

Kept for in supreme commander, it didn't help the tiniest bit in gaming, but windows is a bit nicer to use, also finally faster decoding/encoding while doing other stuff at once, dualcore doesn't compare to hyper threading...

Its not a total 6.4 ghz btw, its 2 cores running @
3.2 ghz, most programs and games only use one core so won't be any faster as your p4...

Best is to go for a core2duo and oc it a bit, @ 3ghz it'd be equal to a pentium D @ 6 ghz.
Even in single core apps it'd be double the speed, and mroe than triple the speed of your p4 in dual core apps like winrar and games like supreme commander...

In short:
Worth dual core? - YES, but not pentium D, but core 2 duo...
