Hi there, I recently got the the 8mb package from UKFSN, the Office45 i think it is. and it comes with a static IP address. Can anyone help me make a file server of my pc using my ip address or anything, I tried last night but i cant find help anywhere.

I want to be able to access a folder on my home computer from the like of work or a friends computer.

Help!!!

Download one of the many free FTP server applications and forward port 21 from your router firewall page to the IP address of your computer/server.

^^
yep, you could do,
but expect to get port 21 hammered by bots looking for an upload site.
maybe use a different port for it instead.
:)

(edit: ooops, he did come back, yay :D )

I see so to open a port 21 on my router it would be a service yes? And is it simple to setup?

...don't ask me, I voted for "RemotelyAnywhere", much safer :D

heh, OK
try installing "Cerberus FTP Server"

on your router, you'll need to enable "port forwarding" of any WAN connection made to port 21, to the LAN IP of your PC

you might need to open other ports depending on your current
firewall/router config and the setup of the FTP server

I went for remote anywhere as bitslice advised, seems good software althought a little slow. Any other software that is similar to this only abit faster?
