new build coming up and im going to set up 2 samsung 256gb 840 pro in raid 0

can someone explain why this is faster than a single ssd set up.

and also how much space does this give me.

i currently run a 256 as main a 240 for games/steam 2tb for storage.

thanks in advance.

clayer.

Will TRIM work in RAID with those 2 SSDs, i know the Intel ones do?

Its quicker as you are spreading the read/write across 2 (or more) disks.

You will also need the same size disks for RAID 0. It will use the size of the smaller disk hence you will lose the difference.

Raid0 divides the data uniformly across two (or more) drives. The data is split up evenly and spread across the Raid0 drive.

Because the data is on two (or more) drives it can be read from multiple channels to transfer information.

Think of it like two bags of sweets vs one bag of sweets. With one reach into the bag you can only ever get one sweet, but with two bags you can get two sweets with one reach, since you have two arms and two bags of sweets.

You get the total amount of data in one raid0 drive, so you would have 512GB with your two drives.

thanks for the info
so i can use the 2tb hdd for storage and back ups and install operating system and steam games to raid 0.
