Hello

I have 2 hdds sata raid 0 and i also have a normal ide hdd that i keep my data and back things up on, am having problems with occasional boots and i am sure that i may have my ide settings wrong in bios 1.6.

what should i have set in bios for ide please. I also have a dvd on ide too

example-in partition magic my ide non sata hdd comes up as disk 1, surely it should be disk 2.

in the ide config within the bios i have it set as ide-both, sata-enabled, sataop-raid and sata2 disabled.

thanks

I don't know about the ASrock bios but for my Asus I just have to set it so that first boot drive is SATA(two menus, one to enable SATA and the second one has the boot order) and that should be it. If you want I think you can totally remove the option of booting off the IDE drive.

Partionmagic may be recognising the IDE hard drive first because of the way it was programmed, maybe some legacy coding that tells it that IDE is more important than SATA?

Fairly sure this is the same on all boards as per Semi_pro's comment Legacy Coding, the bios see's the IDE's 1st then Sata's
which it boots from is down to what you tell it in the bios (which mine forgets now n then!) just how it is unfortunately.
