Using two sata controller cards together ok?

hi

am in process of building a file server and am wondering if can use two (same chipset) sata controller cards in the system as the motherboard only has 2 sata ports.

Both controller cards are have two sata connectors and am planning on connecting five sata drives in total.

Can two sata controller cards be used in same system without any conflicts?

No problem at all.

Yes they can. Using two SATA connectors onboard, 2 sata on a controller card, and 4 sata on another controller card here.

Isn't it just easier to get a single four-port card

(SIL3114 chipset, any search engine should find them)

I've gone for 2x2 port cards as all 4 port cards have seen have been pretty pricey.
