Using US wireless router in the UK

I've been looking at getting a mesh wireless system for the home. I quite like the look of the Google Wi-fi product but it's not yet available in the UK and there's no apparent release date yet. My employer has a US office which means I can order US equipment, get it delivered to them and then get them to ship it over to me in the UK.

Are there any issues with using US wireless equipment in the UK? Such as different wireless channels etc.

Mesh wireless, do you mean multiple access points? Just buy Ubiquiti kit.

Doesn't that require a wired backhaul? I've read reviews of the Ubiquiti AmpliFi HD kit but it doesn't seem to be rated well against other products.

yes big issues - most US wifi kit is illegal here. UK wifi is limited in power way more than the US stuff

Guess that trumps everything.

Lol, I asked them via Twitter yesterday when they were planning to release in the UK and they replied that they had nothing to announce!

For that price I'd rather have tried and tested Ubiquiti kit.

The Google kit has been "tried and tested".
