Using Win 7 RC as primary OS?

Cool cool, think I'll whack that on my machine when I get the time to back up all my stuff etc. And, of course, download it, which on my connection will take a shade over twelve hours

I have to dual boot. W7 is simply not good enough to run as my main OS. It can be a tad clunky at times. Besides, most of my stuff is installed in Vista. Vista serves me very well and I wont bother changing.

Why is it not good enough? It's been flawless for me, no issues whatsoever. I spank the arse off my machines as well.

been using w7 for months as a main os. Only problem is punkbuster with some games BF2 and COD4 manged to get it working with COD:WAW, so I'm happy.

Always get 64bit these days. Unless you don't have a 64bit cpu

how well does it run on the NC10? does the desktop take a while to render etc? or is it faily usable

It runs flawlessly, It's at least as fast as XP was. It makes for a very comfortable experience and looks a lot nicer than XP. The beta driver from Intel for the built in GMA 950 (used by nearly all netbooks and a lot of notebooks) is a little dodgy at the moment but that should be fixed soon.

I've only booted into XP about twice since installing the RC. RC is rock solid stable for me, zero compatability issues so far, occasional bugs but nothing too serious and just a nicer overall experience than XP.

I've been running Win 7 RC as my main OS for a couple of months now on my laptop. 100% improvement over Vista in my opinion. Zero problems compared to the once a week crash i got with Vista. Very happy with it, let's just hope they never release it so we don't have to pay :).

Running Win 7 build 7201 as my main OS, have done since 7201's release.

It's been fine. Had a few problems at the start, but once I installed all the latest drivers everything's been fine.

Everything I could do on Vista I can do on 7.

I have been running it fine on my Dell Mini 9 Netbook since the 1st RC release. Runs almost as well as XP did on there, better now I have upped the RAM to 2GB. My main rig is happily running Vista 64 Ultimate though so won't be upgraded till the final release of Windows 7. It is good, but it isn't exciting enough to waste the effort installing twice if you have a happy Vista system.

I think most people who tried early versions of Vista (myself included) have been even more impressed with how stable and good Windows 7 is. After a nightmare with Vista RC I took over 12 months and a whole system upgrade before risking Vista 64 (and kept XP as a dual boot due to not trusting it). When I upgrade my main system to Windows 7 that will be it for my gaming / clocking system.

I've been using build 7127 for a week now and it's been running great, it's as fast as Vista x64 but still just as snappy as XP. I love it and all my apps run fine on it so far, no problems what so ever.
