Usual amount of time between job interview and offer/ rejection

Howdy guys.
I went to a job interview on Tuesday for a regional managers job in quite a large company, I got some great feedback, got told the interview had gone really well and the manager who was interviewing was very enthusiastic about whole thing.

Was told I'd find out out in the next few days as to if I had it or not, what's the usual time scale on decisions with these thing?

Last managers Job I went for I was offered it on the spot, so I don't really know what time scales they work on.
 
I suppose it depends on how far apart their other interviews are. I'd have thought you'd hear something by Monday though.
 
It varies from company to company, it could be as long as next week if they have lots of interviews or can't decide on who to invite back.

Never gone for managers position however...
My current job though I applied for on the 28th of June 2012. Had an interview on the 3rd of August 2012. From this date I didn't get anything until I got an offer on the 19th of October. I suspect I only got this after guessing my interviewers email address asking what happened to the position 2 days prior to the offer. I finally started on the 26th of November. This is a big IT firm. Big organisations seem to be like this... slow :(
 
I went for an interview for my job currently, about 4 days after an assessment, but then it took about 2 weeks for them to get back to me to say I had got the job and then about 5 weeks after that to give me a start date.

My previous job I went to a mass interview (over 1,000 applications, 600 interviews and only 30 jobs), and they told me I got the job about 2 weeks after as well.

Guess it just depends on the company, if they've interviewed everyone else and they really like you, they will probably get back to you really quickly, but it depends if they have other interviewees booked in.
 
Did you not ask what next stage would be? This should prompt them to tell you a date that they would get back to you.. also you can find out how many other candidates are being considered and how many stages to the process.

If you have a recruitment consultant this would be easier.

I had a first interview week before Christmas, second interview second week of Jan and was told in the last week that I didn't get it... this was a big bank.

Others - I was called within an hour of leaving!

In my experiance if you're getting the job they let you know pretty quick, within the next day or two, sometimes the same day. (Doesn't happen very often though)

Rejections usually arrive with a week or so, if you get one at all (much more common)

You may not have "blown it" at all, sometimes theres simply another candidate with better experiance, qualifications, etc. Just one of those things.

I've never dealt with management position hiring but when we are hiring people we'll often be doing interviews over a roughly 1-2 week period and potentially not making a decision for a week after that and then it depends on how urgently we need to fill the position, etc.

Give it a few days then give them a call IMO.
 
Mate of mine went for a job back in October, he thought he'd not got it due to not hearing anything, got a letter of acceptance in January(!) - he started last week.
 
As said, depends how many they have seen, if any were after you, and then who is about for getting together to make a decision. The last bit seems to take eons just getting people together.

If you haven't heard by tomorrow I'd drop them a line and say you're waiting to hear something. If you haven't mentioned anything about it in the interview, you could always say you had another interview where they were keen and you needed to make a decision.

I had a wait of nearly a month for a job once, so not completely unusual, though I had pretty much written it off.

I suppose more than anything it comes down to the company, the recruitment process, the position and whether they need somebody straight away.
 
I received a successful notification yesterday and that was a week after the interview. It was delivered via email!
 
I tend to go through a recruitment consultant and they should be in contact with the company pretty much straight after your interview. They can give you proper feedback and an idea of where in the decicion process the company are. Remember though that most companies will have to jump through all their HR hoops which tends to delay the process to an apalling degree.

I suspect you'll hear by tomorrow afternoon at the latest. Nobody like these things hanging over the weekend.

When I got my current job I didn't hear anything for 4 days, but that was because my consultant was negotiating me £5k on top of what I was looking for and wanted to suprise me with good news :D

The job I interviwed for prior to that they keep me & the other final candidate waiting for over a week after 2nd interviews.
 
Yeah, I tend to get offers within a day or two, or rejections a week later. Unless it's Prudential ("The Pru") then not a sniff from them after 5 weeks despite me scoring 100% in both their maths/English tests and they went ape when I chased them lol.
