Usual amount of time between job interview and offer/ rejection

I once went for a job interview, went really well and was offered the job just wait for a letter so it's official.

Never heard anything again lol!

Luckily it was for Morrisons when I was 17 and I really didn't care/chase it up at all.

Depends how well the interview went.

I told one interviewer he was a stuck up ****. Rejected about 10 seconds later.

Interestingly I did pretty much the same thing at the very next interview and they created a new role for me a pay band above the one I was applying for!

Our company doesn't hire for set positions, we are always looking for bright new talent. Therefore we can be relatively quick with responses, normally within 1-3days.

I assume for companies that interview a load of people for a single job then they must wait until the last person is interviewed. Would hate to be going for such a job.

What about interviews that involve 2 interviews? When I was looking for work in 2009, I found it common to be called to interview twice. One company even did a telephone interview first followed by 2 face-to-face interviews. They got us down to 2 candidates, rejected both of us then re-advertised the job. Months later, the job was still being advertised :(

Went for one on Tuesday and told this morning what the feedback was. Other one I went to last Thursday and still to hear back, depends entirely on the company, no hard rule.

I've personally seen everything from offer during the interview to three months. There are just too many factors to make a rule: they might be waiting to hear from the first choice, interviews might be over an extended period, the person making the decision might go sick, etc. Over two weeks is rare though. If arranged through an agency I would wait until 14 days are up and speak to them, rather than the employer.

Seems there was an email problem, they sent me an invitation to a second interview this coming Monday yesterday that I only received today.

This is with the same people who interviewed me on Tuesday plus the sales director.

Got to do a presentation, so hopefully fingers crossed and all that.

Never gone for managers position however...
My current job though I applied for on the 28th of June 2012. Had an interview on the 3rd of August 2012. From this date I didn't get anything until I got an offer on the 19th of October. I suspect I only got this after guessing my interviewers email address asking what happened to the position 2 days prior to the offer. I finally started on the 26th of November. This is a big IT firm. Big organisations seem to be like this... slow :(

More like it was offered to someone else and that either fell through or he/she was useless and they went with choice 2.
