UT2004 is back!

I downloaded these yesterday for nostalgia and seeing the impact hammer reminded me of playing a mod for UT2004 called "Deathball" I forgot how much I enjoyed that mod. Used to play as goalkeeper mainly.

UT99 or 2004? I've just been playing UT99, some co-op team 'monster hunt' game. Before I knew it I had played for 30 mins

2004, I downloaded it 2 hours ago, played a few games and got completely lost in it

Still remember buying UT99 on release - bought it at like 3pm and ran home, next thing I know it was around 5am and I have no idea where the time went - I think I played assault non-stop for a solid 12 hours.

For a game I played so much with my friend, I have remarkably little memory of it. Have loved playing these versions.
If nothing else, it’s what I call a pure game. None of that subscription ****, paid cosmetics, FOMO seasons etc. modding was done in the spirit of being free and open, and you could get skins and new levels on PC mag cds. That applies to pretty much any of those games in that era but still.

I jumped on UT 2004 for an hour the other day, however I think my mid 50's reactions are letting me down, or everyone else is just god level..

I wonder if there are any, old geezer servers, for people of my age / skillz.. maybe we should start an OCUK server, I mean I understand that you all will be god level compared to me.. but at least it would be a laugh and i'd hope most would be up for working as a team

I remember mainly playing the free for all instagib mode.
Best level was the floaty space station one.

In 1999 my computer was way too slow to run it, I dont think I had a 3dfx card until maybe ~2000 / 2001. I remember barely being able to run the dark match mode on unreal 1 which was even a struggle for the terrible Matrox Mystique 220

I did play it at a friends house though who had a Voodoo Rush

insta gib deathmatch is so much fun in ut99 but i dont see any online servers for that, so i played with bots and auto adjust the bot difficiulty and next time i checked the bots they were on the second highest setting, loving the texture mods but the one for char models and weapons/pick ups etc has to be enabled in the mutator menu

does any one else find ut2004 kinda slow for movement speed compared to the first one?

My brother and I played in two of the top UT99 clans on clanbase and my brother also played for the UK team. I think we'll have to get on this!

any one know any games that are similar? i miss good old arena shooters especially death match.

the closest i found a few year back was this https://store.steampowered.com/app/324810/TOXIKK/ but the online never got off the ground for player numbers

used to love quake 3 for deathmatch and ut was awesome for team stuff, back in 99 with a tnt 2 ultra
