UT3 glitch

When I play UT3, the game sometimes just stops completely for up to a minute. This is while playing the campaign locally. The screen just completely freezes and the sound loops. My spec is a Q6600, 8800GTS 512MB, 4GB RAM.

Anyone else experienced this?

although up to a minute sounds like quite a long time. Was normally for a few seconds for me before these

I get a similar sort of problem too, it tends to only happen when playing the Warfare (I think it's called that?) game mode... or when there are a lot of bots/vehicles.

I'm running a Q6600, 8800GTX, 4GB RAM and a Gigabyte mobo.

The game will just randomly lock up for a few seconds and then it'll be back to normal again.

I've also noticed that the voice overs on the loading screens for the campaign mode tend to break up as well.

Well not sure exactly how long it is normally. Sometimes it's only a few seconds, but sometimes it's a bit longer. Also only tends to happen on Warfare or other large scale maps.

edit- Can't install those drivers. For some reason Nvidia installers (yes, every single one) don't like my system. They first complain that the installer is 32bit and I'm running a 64bit system, then they complain that the installer is 64bit and I'm running a 32bit system, then they shut down. I'm definitely installing the right ones. It's so ridiculous, I've never been able to run the Nvidia driver installer

(I can install drivers manually if I need to though).

well those are the drivers that fix it (for nikebee as well). I'm guessing newer versions (from guru3d etc.) will probably contain the same fix too

Heh, none of them will work. Not a single Nvidia installer has worked on my system. I'll try and install it manually and see if it fixes it.

I have the very same problem with my X2.

For some reason it only seems to happen with my CPU overclocked. Why would this cause a lock up whereas it can run Prime95 for 8hrs with no issues?

Any help appreciated.

I used to get that when i used Vista. It was fixed, but some people seem to still get it.

Try the new patch 1.2 if you haven't installed it.

for me UT3 only seems to lock up on Necropolis when i enter a viper :S not sure whats causing this and it isnt everytime i get in a viper, but it does happen often
