UT3, Quake Arena

it will suggest skill levels according to your ability so shouldn't be to easy if it is just go up one.

It's just like Q3 though with tweaks here and there

unfortunately ut3 is pretty much completely dead online, you'd do better playing either the original ut1 or ut2k4. As for Q3, I couldn't say for sure but I guess most people have moved to QuakeLive.

It really is about time the next big fast paced FPS was released :(

Quake Live is an odd one. The matchmaking has never worked for me. I'd consider myself a above average player (certainly not the twitch insta gibber of my youth :p) and sometimes I end up at the top of the scoreboard with 3/4 more kills than the next guy, other times I get my rear end handed to me pretty convincingly. The whole move to "Pro" content has put me off lately too.

Agree with sas.wlv, about time there was a new Quake... Won't happen because of the COD kidz :(

I heard that was nerfed and it's too easy/no skill?

There's a lot of whiner fags on the QL forums. Q3 is pretty much dead unfortunately. QL is a good replacement but still lacking in some areas imo.

You still need the skillz to play it well though. t's about the only real deathmatch fps available still.

Do people still play unreal

that was a great game. Does it run ok with windows 7 can you still buy that game

Well I am obsoletely fed up of COD. My friend thinks he's ace playing it on Wii, every shot I just agree yeah yeah great shot but I NEED some real skill games. It's a shame it's not 1999 again. I am having fun playing Q3 CPMA, there isn't many people online though so I'll give QL a shot.

I played CS:S again today and I can't believe how slow it is! Still a good game but I am sweating for some fast fps.

cjgardens you can buy UT on steam and still play it online with W7.

Only problem with Quake Live really (tho I haven't tried it lately to see if they finally fixed it) was the netcode, they went with lag compensation which worked - the odd off shot aside - but a particular bunch of players complained about it and they fudged it up and ended up with some half arse version with lots of "dead" zones... the whole move towards premium/"pro" content and lack of more casual modes for when I wasn't in the mood for playing competitively means I haven't really gone back to it.

They still haven't got a decent Mac OSX version of the QL client. Until then it is dead to me.

And I want to play the OSP maps. OSPDM5,6,7,8 were awesome maps.

Quake Live is the most skilled game out there. If you can play against other good players in QL and hold your ground, you will have no trouble playing any other fps on the internet.

Play an hour of QL against good opposition the jump into CSS. it will feel like walking in tar but you'll be reacting like someone from the Matrix. Works for me ;)
