i have been told that uv dye is bad for watercooling systems. however is there any other way (apart from using uv tubes) to get uv reactive water, which doesn't ruin your system after prolonged use?

was going to use deionised water with some dye (or equivalent)

what coolant should i use - is the deionised water ok? or should i use special liquid from e.g. koolance or somewhere similar? is liquid like this that contains preadded uv colourant ok? or should i just use plain deionised water and uv tubing?

thanks

I read the same warning in the manual for my pump. The supplied coolant in the same package was UV reactive. I guess it doesn't make too much difference.

Simple, use Swiftec Hydrx.

Best additive I've used by far.

Over 1 year in my system, pipes still crystal clear and UV green.

:D :D

Previously used anti freeze and also water wetter, both went cloudy within weeks - and no UV ...

I had a horrible time with UV additive, I added it to my system and it made the water very 'foamy' and the pump started cavitating and making a racket.

In the end I threw it all away and now just use UV reactive tubes with normal cooling water.

I always used to use UV dye along with Redline Waterwetter, it never furred my pipes or did any noticeable damage to any of the components, it did however turn the hoses an unremoveable shade of blue.

AC Ryan Flush! Watercooling Additive UVblue

I think it was because I added it to water that already had a additive against corrosion when it should have been added to plain water.

ah i see. does the Swiftec Hydrx also have additives to protect copper against oxidation, etc.?

thanks

Yes it does, & I am also using some currently.

I'll load some pics after work.

so swiftech hydrx with distilled water is the best bet?

thanks guys :)

I use either HydrX or Valvoline Zerex with either distilled or de-ionised water.

Haven't fitted any UV lights

What tubing you using there DaveMac, looks nice and flexible?

The res your using in the 3 1/2 bay fits quite nicely in your case, breaks the tubing up a bit. I've never been happy with the way my tubing go straight the rad in mine, might consider a res. Which one is it your using?

i have used mct-5 fluid witch uv green then i put some yellow dye in and the res fluid more oragne now :D might be able to get a pic tomorrow if you like

It's 1/2" Clearflex - not as jelly soft as Tygon but bends very similar and it's about half the price.

The res is a DD dual floppy bayres, as I have nothing else to put in the 3 1/2" bays thesedays!

Clearflex, is that silicon or PVC?

Not sure but, having your ram mounted that way, doesnt prevent from using them in dual channel?

Nope thats the correct way for dual channel on the msi boards. Slots go green-purple-green-purple, so 1 stick is in each channel.
