im gonna order some uv cables for my new pc, and with me not being to hot on them, i guess i need a uv light to make them shine??

what sort of light do i need?? needs to be blue, or at least make the blue cables glow...

:)

UV cables wont light up without a UV light, so just a standard UV Cathode is what you're after.

Dual kits are generally better since one doesnt really cover the whole case enough, plus it works out cheaper then buying a second later.

I've got UV blue cables, and i definately prefer it over the blue and red led's and cathodes i used in the past.

There is a slight glow from the cathode itself...

Whatever colour your cables are, that is the colour they will glow.

The UV cathode WILL NOT light up dark areas of your case.
(Your case won't look purple for example)

So if you have yellow cables, they'll glow yellow.
Blue cables... Glow blue etc.

Cathodes should never be in line of sight from the window anyway IMHO - So you'll never even see the "purple" of them.

@FrostedNipple - A standard lightbulb gives out yellowy~white light.
It ALSO puts out orange and red... But there is so much white you don't notice it.

Same as the UV CC's... They have a slight purple tinge, but the amount of UV light being emitted is far greater. (You just can't see it)

EDIT - A bright LED Fan will overpower the light emitted from a UV Cold Cathode - So if you want your cables to glow correctly, I would only use UV reactive fans and/or black fans too.

UV light is black light, meaning it gives off invisable light which makes your dayglo cables light up.
The colour of the tubes is Voilet, hence the Ultra Voilet name.

well, its not a proper uv light then, everyone knows UV is not visible to the humn eye, or at least anyone that listened in science lol,
The light they emit is UV the tube is Voilet.
They won't light your case up because like i said its Black Light & will only effect UV reactive material.

ok.. so one person says they glow violet, one doesnt

if they glow violet, then im a bit stuffed as i cant see a logical place in my case to hide it....

other then that, does anyone know of any blue uv 120mm and 90mm case fans..

Yes, but the UV light is only just in the UV spectrum so appears purple to the human eye. Hence why my leg hasn't got skin cancer yet (or a tan :( ). :p

It draws power from the PC when you power it up.

Some come with a switch, so you can turn it on and off, others come without, so always on.

It should say in the spec.

EDIT: My UV light has a switch (take from another cathode set) but i always leave it on, been going a good 3-4 months at least and it hasnt given me cancer yet either, so all good...... :D Looks great at night when the UV reactive cables light up, even better as my mobo has blue lights on the board (matching)..... :D

If you leave the switch on...
When PC is on - Light is on.

More accurately - When your PSU is providing power to your molex's - The light is on.

Usually they come with a switch you can turn off and on independently.
(But if the PSU isn't giving any power then it cannot turn on obviously)

I got a UV cathode the other day, ive got 2 antec UV reactrive fans and an OCZ modualr PSU with UV reactive cables, i stuck 1 cathode in and i was a bit disspointed with it, its got a little dial on the little switch thing i got does that make it more powerful r something plus i didnt get any velcro strips with it so i had to use some cable ties, here is a pic of it:

Can anyone please tell me.....?

Do the Akasa Serial ATA 45cm DAYGLO Blue Data Cable
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-001-AK

And the

Akasa Rounded Floppy UV DAY-GLO Cable (0.45m) - Red
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-068-GE

Both need UV light as obviously the one above with the words UV in the title does but what about the other ones that just say DAYGLOW and would it be wise to mix coloured cables in there.... (ie red and blue)

Your thoughts please people!

When i say in there, i mean in my case

You can mix/match as much as you like :)

Yes dayglo will lightup with UV coldies too. You will also find the edges of your sound/gfx cards and mobo/ramstick edges etc all are illuminated as they are a certain type of white which reacts well with UV.

Mine lights up quite nice :D

I also got one of these UV pens but I've not had time to "mark" components yet with funky styles!

NICE.... How many UV lights you got in there and what size.. im going to be putting it in the therm armour case and not sure if one 12" will cover it all
