V40 not atarting

Doesn't even sound like it's trying to fire to me, have you checked the obvious, i.e. is it getting both fuel and a spark?

If it's not then I'd probably go with immobiliser.

It did start first time but stalled as soon as I went to move it off the drive. Didn't have time to check anything so took the Evo.

What's the random ticking when you turn the ignition on (both times)?

Still looks electrical to me, fuses or immobiliser are still what I'd be looking at.

That ticking is weird? As is the fact it won't let you crank it for long. I'd be looking at either the battery or the immobiliser like Paradigm said.

Edit: Just seen you said it started then stalled after a while, perhaps not the battery then.

Ticking is the fact the seatbelt isn't that plugged in. It's not cranking for long because the car stops cranking itself.

Poor earth connection? I've seen similar behavior when the battery has been fubar'd.

It could have been flooded from the earlier stall though too.

I pulled the fuse for the fuel pump and no change at all. There was also a relay so I removed this too, again, no change. All back in and still not starting.

I kept the key in the cranking position and it does exactly as above, just repeats. Left it now as I don't want to kill the battery, going to see if I can get it towed to the garage that's fitting a new radiator to it. Fingers crossed, as I don't think I have any kind of breakdown cover that covers me at home, I'll have to check with the bank.

Spare key tried, same result.

Checked my policy, looks like I've only got home assistance, ie no towing.
