V6 ST220 thirsty ?

After my Pug 106 GTI finally bit the dust and has gone to boy racer land after 12 years of ownership im all grown up and need a "sensible car" the wife says, ok a mondeo then i say

i've got about £4k to spend and would love a TDCI ST but they seem to be just out of my budget for a half decent one, plenty of V6's around that price though but the MPG kind of puts me off even though the sound of a V6 is lovely compared to a clattering diesel.

i've got a Mazda 6 2.0 (the wifes) and the MPG on that is kind of rubbish really about 300-350 miles per tank (£70 ish) how much worse is the V6 ST ?

I got about 280 miles to a tank from My VXR, which averaged low to mid 20s, which is similar to what the ST220 will get.

I was getting 22mpg average and about 300 miles from a tank. Completely worth it though.

does the mondeo have a 55 Litre tank as well ?

My commute which is 50/50 motorway/stop-start town driving I get about 25MPG. On a long run you'll get 35-37 if you drive at the speed limit.

It's not brilliant but it's worth it.
