Hi,

If a dealer plugs your car into their diagnostics does it bring up a history of faults or just most recent/current/pending one? I.e can you see what might of occurred in the past?

There is no current way I am aware of of recovering faults that have been deleted/cleared (IE a lifetime fault history)

(Though I wouldn't be surprised if a "Lifetime fault history" function may become an available in the future)

What is your problem?

Faults normally clear after a certain amount of time or drive cycles, providing the fault is no longer there. I know through diagbox on Peugeot you can go through fault journal and that brings up a list of everything that has occurred.

With vagcom (VAG cars), faults have a reset counter which goes down by 1 on each problem-free driving cycle until 0 it then clears/disappears (unless manually cleared before 0 is reached)
Once cleared, there is no ordinary way to recover it apart from the logs on the diagnostic tool if they were saved.
e.g. this counter was 200, now 186...
