That time of year that I normally do jack and get moaned at, but she's due a date night so I had a plan in cooking for her. Nothing new there, massively, so I'd like to make it special, visually stunning as well, but not spend the entire time in the kitchen!

She'll eat ANYTHING.

Brainstorm...

GO!:D

You're not the first to mention steak. I was thinking a nice fillet. She loves a good steak, and I rule at cooking them, plus they're quick. I think we might be on to a winner with steak.

I want to do her a scallop dish as well, she loves them. *googles recipes*

I've ordered some 350g ribeyes from EastLondonSteakCo and will be serving them with triple-fried chips made in beef drippings :D

Not that reason she just loves steak

My Mrs does as well, which is handy. Win, win.

Going to make her some chocolates as well. Not being cheap, but anything made (unless it's realllllly bad) is always massively appreciated. She loves chocolates and nuts, so some chocolate truffles, with different fillings dipped in an outer layer of chocolate is like 30mins work for a massive bonus point.

A bit passe these days, but always very tasty.

Scallops with black budding, pea puree and crispy bacon.

Mains, I'd do something slow cooked. Either lamb or beef, plus you can set it up in the morning and leave it cooking through out the day. Shanks maybe?

Dessert... I can't get enough of chocolate banana bread warm from the oven with a good vanilla ice cream. However, you might need to bam it up a notch. That said, traditional might work better. How about a deep filled apple pie with cinnamon sugar crust and a thick vanilla custard?

Rib-eye steak, boiled potatoes cooled sliced and quickly fried with onions, asparagus/spinach. Giant mushroom done under the grill with a sprinkling of cheese and chopped chillies.

Cant go wrong with a good Lasagne

Made the night before and left to 'seep', then bung it in the oven for 40 mins and serve with a crisp green salad and a nice chilled white

I think I am also going to make Sticky Toffee Puddings with Toffee Sauce for me and the OH...got a lovely recipe which works out A-MAZING :)

Scalops with Chorizo makes a great starter.

Pan fry enough slices of chorizo for one per scallop.
Pan fry the scallops in the same pan
server each scallop on a pice of chorizo in a circle with a little lightly dressed rocket in the middle.

For the scallops

Gently fried in garlic butter
Served on pea puree with crispy streaky bacon (missing from pic)

Delightful :)
