Valentines Day

My GF has to work late so I've decided I'm going to cook, the restaurants are always packed and it spoils the atmosphere.

Can pick your own food, your own wine and your own music....put some candles out...sorted. The big advantage though is once your finished the meal you can seamlessly move upstairs while your still in the moment.

You know it's better if you did something out of the blue and spontaneous rather than when society dictates or, tries to make people believe you should.
It would be an insult to me if all my other half/partner/gf did were some special things on those few "days" of the year everyone follows.

I wouldn't want someone who follow those sorts of things anyway. Kind of common, isn't it?

You are allowed to do both. I don't think it's common, why would it be? :confused: I do nice things for my husband for no reason as well as on the "special" days.
 
First VD with my GF and she's in South Africa and not going to see her for another 5 months :(

Not exactly a lot I can do from here, may email her the tesco's valentine's card lol. Any other ideas?

I'll be in London on Valentine's day, on training. Lame. Double pain in the arse as going out for dinner will be a nightmare.

We're pretty much doing Valentine's day this Saturday - going out for a meal then seeing Strictly Come Dancing live. Excellent.
 
The gf will be getting a card telling her i love her because ONLY on the 14th feb can i say it with real meaning, every other day it doesnt meaning anything....... I hate valentines day :@

I shall be buying into the commercialisation, as it keeps her happy. I shall buy a bunch of roses to suprise her when she gets to my house. I will be taking her to her favorite restuarant complete with the three presents i have bought from the mental notes ive been making for the last 2 months. Dinner, a few drinks, then its back to mine where i have new white bed sheets and rose petals all over the room with candles. (soppy i know). I have chocloates and wine ready in a chiller.
Then i shall be reaping the rewards for weeks after ;)

I think it's been bastardised by consumers, you're not supposed to give valentines to someone who you've already wed. That's just...not the whole point.

But, you are free to do as you wish, I do not dispute that.

Kind of proving my point, it's not exactly a surprise is it? It's expected.
Also, i'm a little bitter about the chivalrous aspect of it all, it supposed to be equal... while you do all the effort, you get hassle free time for a few weeks? ;)

Aye, i've done all this before, just not on valentines day, and did it more than once, or twice, or 10 times. Shame she turned out to be a ~£@:$"!£"%$<expletive>:$££@!£~£~~:@!

Quite happy to prove your point, its no different to christmas or a bday, but i dont suprise those on different days. She wont be suprised, i dont expect her to be. To me it's just a more extravagent expression of the little things i do during the rest of the year, she will enjoy it anyway, which makes me happy too.
I will do something different each year, this is our first valentines, so its an easy option.
