Hi,

Recently I was getting some lame comments from someone who claims to be in a group called Ninja Strike Force which is some part of Cult of the dead cow... i duno I couldn't care less cause this kiddy obviously has to much time on there hands.

It's a wordpress blog and when comments are left they have to be approved by me. I was wondering if I could use a system like Engadget/Joystiq where my site sends out a email to there address for confirmation?

Cheers

Takes effort to keep doing that. It's easier if they have a valid email and they have to click a link to validate it.

If you don't find one, I'll knock one together quickly--shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm thinking: send an email out with a link containing a salted MD5 hash of the email address (using something like the DB password as a salt). That link selects any comments from the database where the MD5 of the salt + the email equals the given hash. Voila, c'est valide.

In fact, I'll do it anyway because this is a neat idea :)

Have a look at some of the anti-Spam plug-ins for Wordpress.
I used to suffer a lot from bots and other spam on my Blog.
I've now got SpamKarma? running and it does an amazing job - very little gets passed it.

spams not really a problem. It was just this one guy who had to hide his IP address and leave a couple of negative comments when he doesn't even know me.

I just found it extremely funny when he ended it with the ASCII picture of the cult of the dead cow logo. Damn script kiddys.

Just got round to downloading the plugin now but looks like the file is missing from the website.

Also I noticed it says Wordpress 1.2 only.

Anyone know of any others?
