Valid ID?

Hi.

Im from Norway but i recently moved to England. I am 19 so ofc i get asked for ID when i do age limited things.
The two things i got to use as identification would be my Visa from a norwegian bank or my passport.
Tho bringing my passport when going out in the weekends wouldnt be the smartest thing to do incase i lost it.

I have tried once at a local newsagent to buy alcohol but they rejected my Visa as valid ID. If it was just because he was unsure or not i dont know.

So thats why im wondering, Would a Visa card (with a picture and signature) from an unknown bank for people here in england pass as a valid ID? I guess there is some guideline for whats valid.
 
Hi - not really. Although I notice you say it has a picture but I know the quality is often poor on them.
Most places will ask for something with a picture (passport/driving licence)
 
The above idea of applying for a provisional driving liscence sounds pretty sound as it is accepted everywhere and there is no need for you to then go on and learn to drive unless of course you wanted too
 
From the sounds of it, it appears that the visa card won't be accepted by many places. I would get a provisional driving licence - everywhere takes that and it's a one-off fee. If you lose it, it's cheaper to replace than a passport.

Don't you have to be a UK resident for one?

I was going to suggest that until I researched a little and couldnt find a UK based company that did one for visitors to the UK.

i'm british but live in norway, and have tried using my norwegian VISA as ID in the uk but it's really hard to get it accepted, especially as i have a d-nummer and it starts with 69 ;)

photocopy your passport and carry that in your wallet, or get a driving licence. failing that, just abuse them and show them your birthday on the card and storm off in a huff :p
 
Hmm

if it has a PASS hologram then it cannot be forged because on a forgery,they cant get the hologram to glow under UV wich is a clear indicator its a fake

This

But even still a lot of ****** bouncers wont let you in even with one

Why my mate hasn't got a provisional licence is beyond me

Yeah but you can do things like stick a fake bit of card over it with different dates on it for some cards
and also some bouncers just can't be bothered to check that hard
